Saffron as one of the oldest and the most expensive spices in the world, is a dried stigma of crocus sativus flowers - a small perennial plant. Kashmiri saffron presents a significantly enhanced stigma for richer color and flavor relative to the Iranian variety either obtained from Iran or sent to Spain for onward processing and distributed as Spanish saffron. Kashmiri Saffron (Shahi Saffron and Mogra Saffron), as the strongest-flavored variety, is the worlds finest saffron and the most difficult to obtain. A hundred kg of fresh flowers yield about three kilograms of saffron. It is dark red in color and has long perfect strands. Our Grade I: MONGRA (NEVAL) lends the strongest flavor and color.
